05A14 Theoretical and Experimental Study of Scuffing failure in Oscillatory Frictional Contacts Prof. Michael Khonsari
(USA)
N/A Several papers are being prepared and some publications are pending review/publication for the ASME Journal of Tribology. This peer-reviewed journal is considered to be the premier archival journal if the field of the tribology. We have also given presentation at the ASME/STLE joint tribology conferences on this subject. To further diversify the exposure of our research to the scientific community, we have prepared a paper where the general nature of the heat transfer and an analytical approach for handling oscillatory heat source is described. This paper is pending review for publication in the ASME Journal of Heat transfer. Furthermore, we have spent considerable time and effort in describing such difficult tribology problems and our capabilities in addressing them with industrial partners at CeRoM as well as meetings with local plant managers. Lastly, the PI presented related material in a tutorial and short course style at the 2005 Gulf South Rotating Machinery Symposium to a large number of practicing engineers interested in the field of tribology.
